Ovaleye's Community Relations Manager, Carissa presented a free DIY Web Design webinar this morning that we are editing and posting on Youtube next week. Along with the webinar she recorded video tutorials for Web Presence Builder while she was in the studio. The video tutorials came out great and now we are just editing them up for you. This particular video is on metadata and our DIY sitebuilder, Web Presence Builder that every web hosting member has access to for FREE.
Mom and I had a working lunch over sushi today. Neither one of us is very adventurous when it comes to sushi, so when we got this on our table we both laughed after thinking we were ordering our usual avocado and tune based sushi rolls. We were both in the office for most of the day answering support emails and working on a few upcoming in house projects ( like a new ovaleye.com! ). We quickly put up a fun Playlist on Youtube to listen to while in the office (below). What do you listen to while you are working at your desk?

Fresh, Quick and Inexpensive Marketing Ideas

Are you looking for a fresh, new and inexpensive marketing idea, well you'll love this idea! Your business already has it's products and services, and most likely you have one website for them all, and that is perfectly acceptable. However, a creative way to market a specific product, service or promotion, or maybe a more memorable way for potential clients to get to your website, is to have more than one domain name. How does this work? One example is to create a shorter, more memorable version of your current website domain name, such as, www.SmallBusinessesDoItBetter.com can be shortened to www.sbdib.com . The shortened version is a memorable acronym for the entire name, and can be used easier on marketing materials. Another example would be to market to your service area. If you are a carpet cleaner you probably already have yourbusinessname.com, but you can also get citynamecarpetcleaner.com, which is very memorable for potential clients in that area. You may also want to protect your brand/business name by obtaining all of the domain name extensions. For example, we have Ovaleye.com , Ovaleye.net , Ovaleye.info , Ovaleye.tv , and so on. These can all have separate websites or can all be pointed to your main website, either way you own the domain name, and it is not available for someone else to purchase. If you have a marketing campaign you are promoting, you can get the project name as the domain name; This is great for search engine keywords too. No need to create a website, you can point the domain name to the product, service or campaign's page on your website. You could gift a domain name, yes, even for a business. Buy your employeename.com and direct it to an employee's own blog, linkedin page, or bio page on the company webpage. Take it one step further and get companynameonFacebook.com and direct it to your Facebook page. Domain names are inexpensive and very fast and easy to obtain. Do a quick search for a name and get your domain names to kick start your marketing! --- About Ovaleye Ovaleye is a Cloud Services company, providing you the freedom to build your Small Office/Home Office business around your unique lifestyle through website and email hosting, web conferencing, VoIP phone and other valuable resources.
Planning Out Your Week

Going into the office to get a jump start on the week on a Sunday is a habit many successful people have. Ovaleye's Home Based Business Action Calendar suggests trying this out. Here are some items to consider putting on your to do list when it comes to web hosting in planning out your week: Install the Editorial Calendar Plugin in WordPress to plot out your blog posts and get them in draft format. This will create a visual for you of what works well together and with your marketing campaigns, and give you a head start in getting your content published. Review emails in your inbox just from the past week and respond, add the sender's information to your contacts, store documents, or add action items or reminders in order to clean out the past week's worth of communication to start fresh. Buy domains you would like for new projects you are starting this week. Have a sale? Looking to get into a new neighborhood? Buy a domain that is city specific, keyword, specific, or exists especially for an upcoming event, sale, or information product.

On last night's SOHO Insights mom and I (mother-daughter business partners) discussed growing pains that many home based businesses go through. Ovaleye is a small office home office business in that we have a small office head quarters that includes our office and studio and we also all have home offices we work from (our servers are in a data center in Seattle). We understand some of the unique challenges growing your business out of your home brings and created a calendar of daily to do items that help us overcome some of these obstacles.
