International Women's Day and Gratitude

This morning one of our designers, Bear Files at Evolution Design reminded his followers over Twitter that it was International Women's Day. We had no idea! He attached a link to the Huffington Post that linked to a New York Times post that listed three items that would negate the injustices that many women around the world today still face. We wholeheartedly agree on every point and know there are some that are missing. The third point really struck a chord with us though, being the ability to make money.

Apart from hosting Brenda's site, Ovaleye has worked with her in bringing our clients exceptional copy. Brenda Asheim has been so much fun to work with, and is the kind of woman everyone wants to know. You will always remember a Brenda email; her signautre sign off is always a quick catching phrase like "MIA in Moovall" or "C’est la Vie in the Valley."

Her story
Brenda is a freelance copywriter (sole proprietorship) with 28 years experience in advertising. She serves ad agencies and design firms, as well as any client who needs a professional writer to create brand names, taglines, print ads, direct mail, collateral, websites, marketing videos, promotional materials, outdoor, radio spots, you name it. Brenda is also an online journalist for Examiner.com with a Seattle Fitness column and a contributing online writer for Demand Studios. Her experience writing online offer her clients expertise in SEO and social media.

Going into business for herself as a freelance copywriter was Brenda has known for sometime was a passion of hers. She majored in Communications at the University of Washington. During her internship at Wells, Rich, Greene/Seattle, she discovered that she was passionate about concepting (brainstorming ideas) and copywriting. And she still feels passionate about her work today.

Think & Grow Rich

Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill is a favorite book of the Ovaleye family. When Jenn and I signed up for the Shine Event by Ali Brown last fall, the paperbook was added to our Welcome Bag with instructions to read it before the event. I read it in two days. I recommend it to all Small Business owners.

The book was published in 1937 with many examples of the great business owners and millionaires at the time. I read this version first and now have purchased the revised version with all the latest business role models and millionaires.

Amazon writes: Think and Grow Rich has been called the "Granddaddy of All Motivational Literature." It was the first book to boldly ask, "What makes a winner?"

Pick up a book at your local bookstore or Amazon has all of the versions.

Using Skype for Family and for Business Part I

My family and I have used Skype for I don't know how many years, to chat back and forth with each other and talk over video for free. Although within the last two years I have found a new respect for this fabulous piece of software. Today I'll go over a couple of the ways I've used Skype in the past that has saved me money and tomorrow I'll go over how using Skype can make you money.
